ZAP AI: why live infrastructure data changes everything

Generic AI assistants answer from training data. ZAP AI answers from your actual infrastructure — specific resources, specific findings, specific compliance scores. The difference is not marginal. It is the difference between guidance and governance.

There are now dozens of AI assistants that can answer questions about cloud security and compliance. Ask any of them about CIS Azure 2.0 and you will get a technically accurate answer. Ask them what your specific compliance score is, and they will tell you they cannot access your infrastructure data.

ZAP AI is different in one fundamental way: it answers from your live infrastructure data.

What a morning briefing looks like

When a CISO asks ZAP AI for a morning briefing, the answer is the actual state of their estate: the three critical findings in the last 24 hours, the specific resources with public access enabled, the backup jobs that failed overnight, the DORA control that is currently failing.

This distinction — live data versus training data — is the difference between guidance and governance.

The technical architecture

ZAP AI runs inside your cloud tenancy, connected to your chosen model provider — Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock or GCP Vertex AI. Your infrastructure data, compliance findings and ITSM records are queried directly within your environment. None of this data leaves your tenancy. Zentej has no visibility into your ZAP AI queries.

The data ZAP AI can access is the full ZAP estate model: every resource across all connected cloud accounts, every finding with CIS control reference and severity, every ITSM ticket with status and resolution history, your compliance scores for all nine frameworks, your FinOps data with cost attribution by business unit, your ZAP AI remediation PR history and your golden image registry.

What ZAP AI can answer

  • What are my top critical findings right now? — specific resources, specific CIS controls, specific owning teams
  • What is my DORA compliance score compared to last month? — trend with finding detail
  • Are there any shadow AI containers in my Kubernetes clusters? — image signatures, namespaces, first detection
  • Which business unit is most over their cloud budget? — cost attribution from mandatory tags
  • Generate a CE+ evidence pack summary — from live data in seconds

The remediation capability

ZAP AI does not just answer questions — it takes action. When a finding is identified, ZAP AI generates the IaC fix, raises the PR, links it to the ITSM ticket and notifies the Platform Lead. The governance loop from detection to closure is automated. The only human step is Platform Lead approval — which is preceded by complete, accurate information about the proposed change.

Who benefits most

ZAP AI does not eliminate governance judgment — it eliminates the manual work that currently prevents governance from being continuous. Large platform teams, compliance teams with multiple audit obligations, CISOs who need estate-wide visibility across multiple cloud accounts.
